About U&S
As wonderful and busy as life can be, there are times when we need to disconnect and turn our focus inward – to tend to our mental and physical wellbeing without the distraction of technology, other people, or reminders of what we have on the go. Walking into the blacked-out space of the studio, you can feel that this is a place of reprieve from the chaos and expectations of the outside world! When class starts and the lights go down, you are immersed in the shelter of the dark so that you can focus solely on how you feel. All the “sōl” you will need is the illumination of candlelight, and positive energy generated by the incredible people in the room - guests will move to heart-pounding tracks and the guidance of our instructors, being encouraged to take on challenges and simply do their best. Our goal every time is to give you the space to take what you need from your class, and leave feeling more refreshed, confident, and capable of taking on whatever comes beyond our walls!
Meet the Owners!
Founded in 2024, father-daughter duo Scott and Kirstie saw a unique opportunity for Durham Region; to cultivate an environment where boutique fitness could be made highly engaging, accessible, and fun for everyone! We like to think of our studio as your favourite local pub; come dressed how you’d like, meet up with your friends, settle into your favourite spot, and leave feeling a little bit better than when you walked in.
Scott grew up in Oshawa, loving physical activity and games of any kind. This eventually took him to McMaster University, where he played football and graduated with a BA in Physical Education. He returned to Durham to raise his family and kept involved in the community through coaching minor hockey and lacrosse (and house league soccer, as pictured!). His favourite pastimes are now spin and pickleball!
Kirstie grew up playing soccer and volleyball in Whitby and Pickering, going on to play varsity soccer at Wilfrid Laurier University and studying English Literature. Kirstie was first introduced to spin through sports rehab after tearing her ACL, MCL, and meniscus in university. She taught spin for four years throughout her fantastic experiences with Full Tilt Cycle Durham and Revolution Spin in Glasgow, Scotland (where she studied for her MA in English Lit!); upon returning home she felt there was a ton of potential to invite further low-impact fitness styles into our studio space, and acquired her Pilates certification in March 2024.
